Welcome to the wonderful world of Birding!

The Virginia Beach Audubon Society is a chapter of the National Audubon Society. VBAS is an active conservation and environmental organization dedicated to the Audubon cause of saving birds, wildlife, and habitat.

VBAS sponsors monthly programs, field trips, education programs, and special events such as the Maury Jackson Birders Breakfast. The Virginia Beach Audubon Society welcomes volunteers and new members. Members receive The Gannet newsletter and Audubon Magazine. The public is invited to participate in all activities.

We hold monthly meetings on the second Monday of every month.  We meet at the Eastern Shore Chapel at 2020 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach.  Meetings begin at 7:00 PM.  Each month we have a interesting speaker talking about issues that are important to VBAS.  Please come join us as guests are always welcome.

Virginia Beach Audubon is sponsoring a Big Year contest for birders in the area.  Go to the Big Year page to learn the particulars on how to participate.  It is open to all birders - not just members of VBAS.

The Va Beach Winter Wildlife Festival was a very successful event.  Steve, Jim & Julie led several trips around the area spotting roughly 50 birds on each trip.  The display in the exhibit area had many visitors stop by and we gained three new members.  Look forward to the next event.
