Welcome to the wonderful world of Birding!

The Virginia Beach Audubon Society is a chapter of the National Audubon Society. VBAS is an active conservation and environmental organization dedicated to the Audubon cause of saving birds, wildlife, and habitat.

VBAS sponsors monthly programs, field trips, education programs, and special events such as the Maury Jackson Birders Breakfast. The Virginia Beach Audubon Society welcomes volunteers and new members. Members receive The Gannet newsletter and Audubon Magazine. The public is invited to participate in all activities.

The May meeting of the VA Beach Audubon Society will be held on Monday, May 11th, at 7:00 PM.  The location will be at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Brock Environmental Center which is located at 3663 Marlin Bay Drive, VB 23455.

We will also have a 5:00 PM Bird Walk around Pleasure House Point led by Steve Coari prior to the meeting.  Meet at the Environmental Center for the walk.  Our friends from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Lynnhaven River Now may join us on the bird walk.

Parking at the Brock Center (circle with the yellow B below) can be tricky.  There is no parking at the building however you can drive up and drop passengers off.  HCAP parking is nearby.  The main lot is a few hundred feet away at the pump station however if this lot is full you need to parallel park along Marlin Bay Drive which is the blue line marked B to A.  The center is the small circle with yellow B in it.  If you park on Marlin Bay you can walk the soft-surface path (red-line) through the woods to the center.

The next Field Trip is the weekend of May, 16, 17 & 18 to the Blue Ridge Parkway/Warbler Road just outside of Bedford, VA.  If you can come up Friday great - if not come on up on Sat and spend the day in this wonderful environment.  Full details are on the fieldtrip page.

The last meeting of this year is our annual Pot-luck dinner on June 8th which will be held at Andrea Bell's house in Alanton.  Full details will appear in few weeks.
